The Hardest Step.

The hardest step on the divine path is surrendering our minds to our developing soul consciousness; particularly our judgemental nature, along with our biases and prejudices. Our foibles often include a tendency to put a label on individuals or groups of people and view them negatively in some manner. Or believing our views on everything are right and that those who disagree are wrong.

Well, what if God disagrees with us? Doesn’t God love us all equally? Isn’t it possible that someone you strongly dislike could at some point in the future become your best friend or unexpectedly help you when you most need it? Aren’t the people and situations we dislike often based on fear or flimsy evidence rather than anything more tangible?

Perhaps we watch all the bad news in the world and wish someone would just assassinate all the evil dictators in the world. But is that actually what God wants?

God wants us to be loving towards all others regardless of who they are or what they’ve done. After long years, I’ve finally accepted that I’ve been wrong and God is right on all these issues. And it’s a tremendous relief, a weight off my shoulders. I can now view the world with more detachment. I don’t have to take sides when it comes to earthly affairs, like a spectator clamouring for their side’s victory at a sporting event. Frankly, being my old self was exhausting. Now, I can just quietly be on God’s side, sending love to all situations in my life and to the whole world, accepting that God’s way is now the only way for me. By doing this, I know I am helping myself and the world. The more loving we are, the more protection we attract to ourselves and others around us, whereas when we radiate negativity, even if we feel it’s justified, we may find it rebounds on us.

At the heart of all these issues is that we don’t have faith that God’s way is right. We may even blame God for giving mankind the freewill to do so much harm in the world. But do we really know best? Great spiritual leaders such as Jesus always tell us to love unconditionally and to do God’s will.

Receiving God’s precious divine love into our soul will eventually remove all of these faults in our personality but we can speed the process up by refusing to indulge in the negative habits that we’ve built up over a lifetime. Some who have passed over to the spirit world while still harbouring strongly negative outlooks have recounted how those earthly beliefs have clung to them as if they have a life of their own and consequently they’ve been extremely hard to remove, thereby preventing them from progressing. It’s wiser to take the matter in hand now to curtail the consequences that flow from wilfully ignoring how God wants us to be for our own highest good.

Our Minds Are Strong, Our Souls Are Weak.

When starting out with divine love, we find that our minds are strong and our souls are weak. Living in soul consciousness is not easy. Our powerful material minds don’t readily give way to our developing soulful state. Some in the world understand this basic human dilemma and try to discipline the power of their minds through meditation.

Whatever we do, most of us will find it hard to regularly be in a soulful state that brings divine love into one’s soul. Perseverance is key. Our material minds are dominant, and soul awareness develops only slowly. We’ve been trained since birth to live in mindful consciousness, so we shouldn’t be disheartened when we struggle to make the progress we’d like. The soul is so unlike our material minds that it can be hard to recognise its gentle nature and promptings or to be aware of the progress we are making.

We can take solace from the fact that receiving divine love is not an arbitrary process. Our prayers for divine love succeed when they are heartfelt, coming from deep inside us. This earnestness ensures our souls are open and receptive to God’s love. When we pray in this manner, we will invariably invoke God’s law of activation and will always receive divine love. It may be accompanied by a physical sensation, which is most often felt in the solar plexus region.

As a result of all our efforts, we will start to experience brief moments of soul consciousness and a deep feeling of God’s love. These precious events will incentivise us to go further. Unfortunately, life tends to get in the way and so each individual experience may not last very long.

We need to reflect deeply on why this is and what’s required to increase the frequency of being in a spiritual state of grace. The problem is that we try to exist in two different worlds, the material and the spiritual, and so we split our time between them in accordance with our individual circumstances and desires. In this way, we segment all our experiences into one of these two distinct categories rather than experiencing everything from a single place of consciousness.

Unifying the different centres of consciousness within us requires us to choose between what God wants for us, which is known primarily by the soul, and what we want for ourselves. Our daily battle ground is the no-man’s land between the mind and the soul. The soul has to come into ascendancy over the material mind for this union to occur. It’s not possible to integrate soul consciousness into the material mind – it has to be the other way around because the soul is the most fundamental part of us. Without some degree of acknowledgement and integration of the developing soul mind then there is a limit to how far we can travel on the divine path.

We can connect to God simply by having an earnest intention to do so. We receive divine love by making ourselves open, vulnerable and susceptible to it. It’s the same with connecting to our growing divine consciousness. Even though it transcends our normal consciousness and is therefore difficult to relate to, if we have a sincere desire to step into this new awareness then at some point we will do so.

The Many Promises Of Divine Love.

Complete soul regeneration through divine love? Major mind upgrade that gives us superhuman powers? Guaranteed immortality? Amazing new soul perceptions?

These are just some of the promises of what awaits those who choose the divine love path. But, unlike my wording above, channelled material about divine love is always careful not to be sensationalist and, if anything, seeks to downplay and normalise the various steps and changes involved. No doubt, one reason for this pragmatic approach is because it’s impossible to meaningfully visualise the journey in front of us and so we have to take each day, each step and each new experience one at a time. The divine beings who guide us are nothing if not humble regarding their abilities and, like any good teacher, are happy to engage with us on our level rather than theirs.

And yet, we shouldn’t be surprised that the changes that lie in front of us on the divine path are truly mind blowing, when you consider our countless limitations and inadequacies here on earth and that God wants us to fully immerse ourselves in the ongoing multi-dimensional experience of the unfolding of all creation for all eternity.

There’s no need to concern ourselves unduly about the nature of future changes that we may experience. It’s enough to just deal with each day as it comes. However, whenever you’re wallowing in the mundaneness of ordinary life, it can be uplifting to remind yourself that a magnificent, blissful, divine future lies ahead on this path and, for a moment or two, to try to imagine the unimaginable in terms of what that might involve. I like to dream about being in a state of profound innocence, humility, peace and love with an underlying sense of wellbeing that I can already start to feel.
