Why Let God Be A Stranger?
I’ve always felt that God must exist but, for most of my life, my thoughts never got much further than that. Now I know a lot more about why we struggle to feel close to God (and how to remedy this situation).
For one thing, God is eternal and therefore timeless. The material mind by comparison operates in the dimensions of time and space and therefore cannot perceive the divine, timeless realm that God exists in. So God remains invisible to us, which often leads us to assume God must be present in the things we see around us in nature. However, we’re told in the Padgett Messages that the universe is merely the handiwork of God and that God’s place of habitation is high up in the heavens. To understand how we can connect to God we first need to understand what we are.
We were created as a soul long before we were born on earth. When we incarnated on earth, we gained a spirit body and a physical body, with the soul residing in the spirit body. Apparently, the norm is for spiritually advanced civilisations in the universe to have only a soul mind and to experience everything from this one centre of consciousness. It seems that mankind’s freewill choice to not live in harmony with God created a schism in our consciousness, whereby our awareness fragmented into three (material mind, spirit mind and soul mind). The material mind developed extensively over time and became dominant, leading to an almost total ignorance of all things spiritual. Hence why it’s so easy to believe God doesn’t exist.
The soul is a creation of God and not an emanation. This means our soul, which was made only in the image of God, lacked any divinity at the point at which it was created. However, the potential exists for the soul to become divine, as explained to us in the Padgett Messages (by praying earnestly for God’s divine love to fill our soul). Regardless of the fact that we were not created as divine beings, each of us is a dearly loved child of God. The gift of having a soul is reserved for only the highest of God’s creations.
Using the material mind to explore reality ultimately reveals the limitations of the mind – boundaries beyond which the mind cannot go. Letting go of the mind in meditation can reveal the primal nature of self. A great sense of peace, love and unity can be experienced, but even this isn’t God.
One can connect to God just by having an earnest desire to do so, even without having any soul development to speak of. But any perceptions we have of God while our soul remains undeveloped will be very limited in scope. This is because the raw perceptions of the soul can’t perceive that which is divine. God has a personality and we can develop an intimate, personal relationship with God similar to that between a child and a parent. To establish this relationship, our desires must be heartfelt. We can use God’s laws to fuel the relationship. When we give then we will always receive – so if we invite God to help us or we hand over our problems then this will inevitably result in a response. Don’t take my word for it – try it and see! Our prayers are more powerful when we include love and gratitude in our requests. The divine love that we receive through our prayers deepens our relationship with God far more than anything else we can do.
The highest realisation that can come to a soul that hasn’t been developed by divine love occurs when the natural love that one is born with is completely purified. One is then in the perfect state that mankind enjoyed before the fall, many millennia ago, into a state of depravity. There’s a saying that no river can rise higher than its source and while this perfect state of being heightens one’s perceptions and brings amazing abilities and experiences, it doesn’t open the door to divine reality.
New senses and perceptions must be developed in the ‘mind of the soul’ through receiving divine love before a true conception of God can arise. Divine love is an emanation arising from God’s soul and when it becomes part of us in response to our prayers then we inherit some of the characteristics and abilities that God has, including immortality. A new soul awareness starts to emerge that we didn’t have prior to receiving divine love.
God always intended for divinity to be a freewill choice, which is why no soul is created as divine from the outset. The impulse to sin cannot possibly exist in a being that is wholly divine. (The human mind may rationalise that it would be better if we’d all been made divine, since none of the human-made suffering in the world would ever have happened. But God has given us the chance to learn from experience the consequences of turning away from God. God did not create sin – it exists only insofar as we indulge our appetites for it.)
Although we grow to become ‘as one’ with God in the process of becoming divine, our sense of being an individual doesn’t change and we do not become God. We grow to feel we’re an intrinsic part of the whole of creation in a profound manner while retaining our sense of identity. It has never been revealed to us whether this sense of being an individual can ever be lost, but the most spiritually advanced beings who once lived on earth have told us that they are still finite individuals (even after becoming wholly divine), with all the limitations that implies. However, these limitations are significantly less than what we experience on earth and reduce over time as we grow in divine nature.
Since divine love is an emanation of God then when this love lodges in our soul it means that part of God is in us. God becomes a co-creator in our lives. As we progress, the intimate connection that we feel with God allows us to know what we should do in any given situation. We aren’t under any obligation to go along with this inner voice but it has our best interests and the best interests of all at heart.
And so, over time, we learn that it’s best to always do what God wants us to do, in a similar way to how we know to follow our conscience. Eventually, we gladly surrender our free will to God’s will out of a sense of love and gratitude. Our deepest desire at that point is to be fully in harmony with God’s laws and find our right place in all of God’s creation. However, we never lose our individuality and we never become God.
As we become more divine, we develop an ability to see God’s actual form. The greater the amount of divine love we possess, the more ‘in focus’ our perception of God becomes. The divine love path is the highest path that any entity that has a soul can take. Why let God be a stranger? The state of the world alone should be enough to make us want to wake up and understand God’s laws. Herd mentality is driving the world towards a looming catastrophe. God is love and love is the answer to every problem. Embracing God and letting God embrace us in divine love will solve the world’s problems and open the door to an eternal future in the celestial heavens.
