Without Love, Nothing Would Matter.
If love didn’t exist, would anything matter? A complete lack of love is a state akin to spiritual death. The highest type of love is divine love, which incorporates the principle of immortality – literally endless life. We receive this great gift by praying earnestly to God for divine love to fill our soul. Divine love is experienced not just as an emotional or spiritual state – it is also a substance, a building block that eventually recreates us as a new divine soul. At that point, our soul shares a great deal in common with God’s soul, although we remain as finite beings and retain our individual identity.
Every time we think or act negatively, we suppress the light within our being and reduce our ability to give and receive love. So when we indulge in unloving thoughts and actions towards others, first and foremost, we harm ourselves. Expressing negativity makes our path back to God longer and more painful. When we feel these types of emotions, we should seek God’s protection and retreat into the sanctuary of the deepest part of our being where love exists and from where we can readily connect to God. That way, the energies we radiate will either be loving or neutral but never unloving.
This expression of the love inside us gives our lives great meaning and satisfaction, far more than habitually filling our lives with shallow distractions. We should practise stepping into God’s world of love daily so that we lead a life that we can look back on with no regrets.
